Introduction

A nearly concluded adaptation of a school project, a paper prototype board game. Gladiators serves to prove that Gaian is also capable of building game projects that are comprehensive in quality and versatility. Gladiators comes with an included game editor which allows for custom games using the mechanics of the original game concept.

This project is likely concluded however, there’s nothing restricting it from being revised for online multiplayer and final polishing.

Purpose

Gladiators was meant to be a follow through from the creation of a successful paper prototype of a school project. While there were no further goals with this project there are still some latent opportunities available.

Because of the simplicity of the visual design, it allows for easy introduction of new game pieces which can add to the cross promotion and collaboration of the various projects in the Genome roster.

Market

Gladiators are for fans of fast competitive board games. The mechanics are simple and the game play is versatile within the constraints of the system.

Moving Forward

Nothing much is planned for Gladiators, there are things that can be done to further its completion and polish such as Multiplayer, a custom map library, and unlockable game pieces.

Risks and Benefits

The likely reception of Gladiators would be pretty low. While it has some fun mechanics and an open editor, visually it’s not up to the standards of what people may want, and without multiplayer there’s little reason for people to invest themselves into it unless they’re brought to the game for some local playing.

Decided Course of Action

As a novelty, add cast members from the Genome Studios roster. Otherwise leave dormant until the inspiration arises to build up the game to a more marketable quality.

Conclusion

Gladiators is an older project done as a novelty and exploration. There are no new plans for this project moving forward.

Introduction

The most ambitious project in both the Get Rich Series and Genome Studios projects as a whole. The Get Rich: Animated Series is the very first project that Gaian wanted to pursue but was overcome by the scope of the project. With great persistence and a little backing, this project can easily stand above all other Genome Studios projects in reception, though it’ll come at a great time and financial risk.

Purpose

The Get Rich: Animated Series is meant to be the pinnacle of the series. It was the first most intent in the creation of the Get Rich Series but still acts as the most widely appealing and far reaching medium to be presented as.

The Animated series is the project that will propel the rest of the Get Rich Series into success and recognition.

Market

The Get Rich Series as a whole is primarily directed towards young adults ages 18-35 who enjoy American cartoons.

The content is adult and is most easily related to popular adult cartoons such as Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad, South Park, Rick and Morty, Bob’s Burgers, and more.

The visual style, while still directed towards cartooning is not explicitly related to ‘adult’ cartoons. It takes on the closest appeal to shows like Adventure Time, Regular Show, The Amazing World of Gumball, South Park, Ren and Stimpy, Happy Tree Friends, and other more ‘cutesy’ styles of cartoons.

Its appeal to young adults is based in the tone of the premise. The main characters are adults who are struggling to get by month by month. They have decent but modest living arrangements and struggle to maintain the expense of their livelihood. The stories of each episode take part either during their work, or during their breaks from work, as most people can relate to.

The Animated Series resonates with an audience that enjoys video media on either video platforms or social media. While the series will be equipped for TV broadcast it’s likely that it will just be available online.

Moving Forward

Not a whole lot has been developed for this project. Gaian has produced about 80% of an animated short for the series and it would be wise to complete it for release.

Furthermore, it would be good to start planning for another short. The production time means that after the release of this nearly completed one there will be a big gap even in the most ideal conditions in creating the next.

Risks and Benefits

This is one of the most ambitious projects in the Genome Studios roster. Though it would be challenging and quite expensive to pursue, this project will likely yield one of the best returns for the effort.

Being animated, this series has the highest potential for social media shares and viral outreach as video content is the most successful type of content on social media platforms.

Furthermore, this series will be able to frame the range of skills available by the Genome Studios staff and show the potential for all our future projects.

Decided Course of Action

Strides should be taken immediately to begin developing the methods needed to have a steady and quality output of work. Animated shorts should be rhythmically produced between or along side comic episodes.

Creating Animated content is one of the best steps towards outreach and would easily trump the use of advertising on other Get Rich content. Therefore, the investment in the Animated Series would be better than investment in promoting the Unanimated Series.

Conclusion

The benefits from animated content for the Get Rich Series would be unparalleled in comparison to the other projects in the Genome roster. Beyond the basic maintenance and outreach of Genome Studios, the Get Rich: Animated Series should be the highest priority.

Introduction

The Get Rich interactive site is a complimentary site which allows the user to click around and explore the Get Rich apartment. Rife with secrets, stories, and a means of discovering intimate details of Wolfgang and Hayes’ day to day lives this project stands on its own in many ways.

Not only does it serve as a gamelike platform for exploration, it also serves as a HUB for all Get Rich media such as links to the Unanimated and Animated series, as well as links to the shop items, artist websites, and to other Genome Studios projects.

Purpose

The purpose of the Get Rich website is to sweep people off into the fun and intrigue of exploring around the Get Rich universe. It is meant to deepen fans understandings of the characters and their lives and build them toward a more intimate connection with the characters. The Point and Click style of the mechanics of the site allow for unique expressions of stories and the integration of mini games and experiences throughout. All in all the site is meant to showcase the multimedia capabilities of Genome Studios and show that the Get Rich universe is a versatile and flexible narrative that can enjoyably be experienced in many ways.

Market

The Interactive Site is predominantly aimed at fans and the audience on the fence about becoming fans. It is meant to stimulate and retain the fandom with less immediate content that instead has to be discovered and unearthed.

The point and click type of mechanics used is directed towards a niche market of fans of classic titles such as Myst and Monkey Island, however the genre and fanbase persists by modern indie titles as well as a similar genre, the dating sim and visual novel.

Because the base platform works natively on the browser and is compatible with mobile phones, there is the possibility that outside audiences could be drawn to the Get Rich series through the exploration mechanics on the site.

Moving Forward

There are many potential directions the Interactive Site can take.

We could prioritize ‘campaigns’ (the small stories that can be triggered in the site). This would involve the deepest investment of time and energy. It would require visual assets, a story/plot, triggers and events being properly integrated into the site, and final polish.

Mini games. There would likely be less of an art demand for this development, however the complexity of programming would be a great deal higher. A proper scope and simple mechanics would alleviate the burdensome nature of going in this direction.

Deepening the range of things that can be explored and discovered about the characters would further solidify and satisfy the fans desire to more intimately understand the main characters, this would likely have a higher visual content demand, however, would be used in very small bursts hardly considered ‘projects’ of their own.

Expand on the complexity of the character schedules. This one would be one of the highest visual asset demands aside from the campaign development. It could also be considered as part of deepening the characters development through the discoverable things however would be largely in its own league of production. I, Gaian, am biased in favour of this as I feel one can create a whole range of visual stories out of the shifting and changing positions of the characters throughout the site. You can have them hold a party which would allow the showcasing of the slowly expanding roster of Get Rich characters on one day, you could depict a pipe bursting or a laundry accident another day, you could have guests come and cameos and anything else. All discoverable over time.

Adding more regions to explore would build more canvases to allow for exploration and adding new stories and features to the site. However, without a range of other things included in it the area would be very sparse.

Lastly we could expand on the narrative mechanics available to craft better experiences. Things such as making a menu that allows you to travel to the location of a character without knowing where they are; triggering the change and reposition of in-game elements; expanding the dialogue box and dialogue options; optimizing the camera and cinematic effects; and others are all things that would build up the narrative engine for the site and Genome Projects in the future.

Risks and Benefits

Investing with the direct interest of seeing returns from the Interactive Site would likely be the wrong course of action. The Interactive Site is meant to add a slow burning draw to the overall pool of Get Rich presentations.

Investing in the site would further expand and deepen the fanbase over time and build towards a larger more intricate experience for someone to get lost into every once in a while. It won’t yield immediate results or even immediate satisfaction but it’ll be something that will grow in strength and appeal as Get Rich becomes more mature and the fandom grows.

The biggest benefit for investing in the Get Rich Interactive Site would be that it builds up the point and click narrative engine that the site runs on. This would have lasting benefits in allowing future projects to use the same tech to build their own range of experiences and stories.

Decided Course of Action

The Interactive Website cannot be made a priority to either the Genome Studios primary plan of action, nor to the Get Rich series. It has a great deal of latent potential however it’s niche appeal and expensive features do not warrant an immediate push.

Instead it will remain dormant and have small bits and pieces added to it as time allows between projects. If the Get Rich team is inspired, they can add a campaign to the site as a project to pursue.

Conclusion

While the Get Rich Interactive Site is a novel project with a great deal of potential. It doesn’t have the broad appeal or expansive enough content to really be worth investing in in the near future.

Introduction

The newest project to be added to the Genome Studios roster. Sins of the Fangs is created by our very first supporting creator: Terry.

In a land where humans have gone nearly extinct, and the power of the arcane has taken grasp. A sentient group of strange creatures now rule the land while bias, prejudice and civil wars run rampant across Aeona. A Shark named Birgus has been stranded on land all his life. Though he and his kind have been deemed dangerous war mongers Birgus is determined to solve his problems with peace. His adventure begins when he stumbles across a malevolent Fioria, who wants revenge on his kind.

Purpose

Sins of the Fangs is a passion project for Terry. It is also her first major comic production. It is an overall pursuit of story telling, artistic development, a career of original content creation and all around learning in the field of illustration and comic creation.

Market

Sins of the Fangs has a strong style and presentation unique to Terry. Its quality is ever improving and has an immediate appeal.

Its nautical theme directs an appeal towards a more niche group, however that group is strong and stalwart in its love of maritime, sea faring, oceanographic, and aquatic themes. You can look to the popular band Modest mouse, the works of H.P. Lovecraft, and many more examples of hugely successful and supported media which often takes on an oceanic theme.

The anthropomorphic nature of the sea creatures into humanoid characters has a further appeal in the ‘furry fantasy’ subculture which is a strong and independent community which is deeply supportive of any new media that represents that ‘furry’ appeal. Furthermore, there is a deeper niche within the furry community which identifies with aquatic creatures and monsters. This content strikes that chord in the community and has the potential to tap into that support network so ingrained in the furry community.

Lastly, Sins of the Fangs takes on an anime like direction of story telling. Using dramatic action scenes interlaced with lighter more goofy interactions between characters which builds towards a long term slower developing story arch. This is a very successful story telling foundation which is easily proven by the depth at which anime and manga saturates global markets.

Moving Forward

Terry has always pursued this project as a hobbyist endeavour. However, with her new steps into integrating with Genone Studios we hope to refine and direct its creation and promotion to become more calculated and professional.

She will be taking steps to alter the format of the comics to better facilitate it being printed as a published comic series.

The marketing for the project will be reviewed and refined to better tap into the identified market. Plans will also be made to better maintain an outreach and facilitate user engagement.

Lastly, a dedicated Sins of the Fangs website will be built to best present the series and allow for unique features and means of presentation.

Risks & Benefits

Because Terry has been creating this series while maintaining a job, Sins of the Fangs, like Get Rich, is a very low risk project to pursue.

A dedicated website would likely be the greatest risk, as users on social media are often hard pressed to follow links to outside sources. This will likely have to be a slow side development.

All other actions taken to expand, improve, and broaden the quality and reach of the series should simply yield a better response from the audience and an expansion of the fan base supporting it.

Decided Course of Action

Genome Studios will take strides towards refining Terry’s strategy for working on Sins of the Fangs, with a little flexibility and effort it should yield a greater response to her work.

With Terry’s help, Sins of the Fangs can be better integrated to the Genome Studios site and brand and will be further promoted by Genome.

Conclusion

Sins of the Fangs is a solid work with great potential. As it becomes more refined and better marketed, it will tap into and build a larger audience for itself. It is fully worth investing into.

Introduction

The Get Rich: Unanimated Series is the pioneer project for both the Get Rich Series as well as Genome Studios as a whole. With 2 published comic episodes, and another on the way, it is the most established project in the Genome Studios roster. Follow Wolfgang and Hayes in their day to day journeys through chaos and excitement as they try to pay off each months rent, and maybe in the process Get Rich.

Purpose

The Unanimated series is meant to portray full length animated episodes as finished storyboards. To animate a project of the length of any of the Unanimated episodes would cost far more than can be allotted to the project as well as far more time than the Get Rich team can afford to give to create the project in a timely manner.

Therefore, the Unanimated series exists. It is the main conveyor of story in the Get Rich series, depicting long wild stories befalling Wolfgang and Hayes in the course of living their lives.

Some auxiliary markets which are drawn into the series are film buffs, as the visual presentation often seeks to replicate cinematography and the styles of famous film directors such as Stanley Kubrick, The Coen Brothers, Quentin Tarantino, and Wes Anderson.

Likewise, fans of photography seem to be drawn in as well, likely for the same reasons as stated above for the film buffs.

Lastly, while harder to quantify, fans seem to resonate well with Gaian, the director of the series’, flavour of story and presentation. He feels like the subject of sexuality has as much merit in storytelling as violence, that minority groups can be a part of a cast without having to have their traits as a minority used as a primary trait of their character, and that love and friendship can be a driving force in story telling rather than conflict and interpersonal drama. All are topics he directly or indirectly presents in the direction of his work.

Moving Forward

This project is one of the most established in our roster. Currently updates have been made once a week, however, now that Get Rich is being created by a team of 2 the best thing to do would be to expedite the creation of the series to have steadier more frequent updates.

Through the faster creation of the Unanimated series, Gaian will have much greater ability to expand and grow the story and his storytelling ability. This will be a critical gain moving forward.

Risks & Benefits

The Get Rich Unanimated Series is by far the least risky endeavour for Genome Studios. The project has been ongoing for 3 years, has proven to draw in an audience, and furthermore, a dedicated fanbase.

This project drives the entirety of the Get Rich Series forward. Because it focuses on the story of the characters is fosters investment in the characters and world; it shows and solidifies the potential of the cast and style for other mediums such as animation and games; and is one of the easier forms of content creation.

Decided Course of Action

The Unanimated Series is the root of the Get Rich series. It is fully and well worth further and immediate investment and expansion.

With Gabi, the new Get Rich team member, the Get Rich Unanimated series will hasten the release of pages and episodes. We will expand on the art style and quality in order to make the presentation more professional and appealing.

Conclusion

The Get Rich: Unanimated Series is a staple to Genome Studios. It’s further creation will facilitate the expansion of the Get Rich Series and Genome Studios.

Introduction

The Genome Studios site is an infant platform for bringing content creators to a growing audience. With an ever improving layout and range of features it will enable for users to explore and discover new creators as well as access new content from their favourite creators with ease.

Purpose

The Genome Studios site is a core of functionality that spans not only itself but through the Genome User Accounts, database access, and tools also expands into all the child sites of the projects.

In its current state the Genome Studios website is simply meant to be a mockup of the visual brand of GS, using a neutral and sophisticated base to allow for the colour in the visual presentation of the projects themselves to come out. Furthermore, with its neutral tone it allows for adaptation of its signature icon/logo “the Gelix” without loss of brand recognition.

Additional concepts have been explored such as the project pages, one of the more critical features of the Genome platform. The Project pages are meant to be a behind the scenes glimpse into the details of a project. It is meant to show media, meta data, and news as well as display details on the investment of the project by its creators. This is supposed to stimulate audience support, as they can see clear as day the effort put into the project and its pay off thus far.

Lastly, there needs to be a smoothly functioning media viewer for the site. This is a yet unexplored feature however it is critical to the future success of the site.

Market

The market for the Genome Studios site is harder to quantify than other projects as its userbase is directly related to the markets of the content based projects.

The markets for the Genome site are divided between 2 core bases. An audience base and a creator base.

The Audience Market

This market is a group of people who are excited to ingest the content of their favorite creator, the creator who’s Genome Project drew the audience member to the main site. That being said, they are someone who is not resistant to breaching past links to see what’s on the other side. They have a passion for creative work that is explorative, and adventurous in its presentation. They want to support independent artists and are open to discovering new work.

They likely ingest comedic work in the form of tv shows, movies, comics and books. They are receptive to artwork that isn’t the standard “beautifully rendered” look that is widely popular on art sites. They don’t take offense to challenging topics, more gritty visuals, sexuality, or violence. They are likely young to early adults between the age of 18-40.

The Creator Market

The creator market is easier to quantify. They are early starting independent or small team artists with a passion project that they are pursuing. They don’t have a well established support network and have a smaller sized audience base. They are more passionate about their work than seeking out profits at all cost. They are interested in receiving feedback, mentorship, and collaboration from other creators. They believe the work they are doing has merit.

They want to take part in something that will not only yield benefits for themselves but have collective success among their peers.

They are likely early adults 23-30. Their work is likely animated, or comics. However, there’s nothing to say it can’t be live action. The tone of their work is adult comedy or adult drama.

Ultimately the Creator that comes to us will be an underdog that believes they can build into a successful creator with persistence and hard work.

Moving Forward

Future goals for the Genome site platform will be to refine the navigation, presentation, and intuitiveness of the site itself. The home page needs to better frame a range of information on all projects, as currently it consumes a great deal of space while displaying very little information.

Mobile functionality of the site needs to be expanded on. While the base of the site has adaptive sizing, much of the theme has static sizes, margins, and text which breaks down the site on mobile screens.

The Project functionality is still deep within its infancy. Once this can be expanded upon, a great deal of gains can be reached with the site platform.
The Project page itself needs to be more versatile for a range of different media types, and be easier for creators to update and edit. The metrics of investment and earnings could be more expressive with charts and other stats that compliment the cause of the creator.
Furthermore, the media viewer would be the presentation side of the Project Page. While the project page would be aimed to display metrics and info, the viewer would have the sole purpose of making the content instantly accessible, filtering out all side information like news posts and links, allowing the user to easily navigate through the content of a project and lastly, without force, allow users to easily come across content from other creators and work their way through that, as they would their favorite creators.

Risks & Benefit

Being at the core of all other Genome Projects this platform would radiate its benefits throughout the future of Genome Studios and its creators. As the functionality expands more and more users will be retained due to the ease of use and the better access to content.

The content creators hosted on the site and project sites will have a more versatile platform to display their media and will have more trust and solidarity with the platform when it becomes more clearly beneficial to them to support it.

The cost of truly reaching the desired level of refinement, at least to just breach into the realm where the functionality and services are all implemented and show off their potential will be quite high. The two avenues that can be pursued are through time investment, as in, Gaian allots the time and energy to learn and improve himself to properly design and implement the broad range of features. And through financial injection, which is to hire an outside developer to create the foundation of the website.

One of the greatest challenges for deciding when and how to invest in this project is how far established the Genome Projects are. It is a very intangible thing to gauge and makes for a tough decision. Will boosting the platform early on yield a greater reception from new users and therefore further build up the projects to a more satisfactory level? Or should the website platform be delayed in favour of prioritizing the further development and expansion of the projects so that in the future the cost of expanding the platform will be easier to justify?

Decided Course of Action

For now, the expansion of the Genome Site Platform needs to be delayed. Unless a low cost opportunity to access a developer opens up, Gaian does not have the proper amount of time needed to develop the site correctly. Neither Genome Studios, nor its creators have enough steady income to justify a financial injection into the project.

Gaian has the intention to prototype and explore a viewer, as that is currently the one feature as of yet unexplored in the broad vision of the Genome Site Platform.

This project should be aimed for as one of the first priorities when a steady inflow of income becomes available for Genome Studios projects. It will benefit the broadest range of contributors to Genome Studios and will solidify the professional brand needed to have a broader marketability to outside users and businesses.

Conclusion

While the Genome Site Platform has incredible potential, that same level of potential is met by an equal level of expense. Genome Studios is not yet established enough to warrant a high tier upgrade to its features and services. Postpone until steady income is available.
